6 STRING FRETLESS BASS

I build electric and acoustic bass guitars, baritone guitars and bajo sextos. When I first started building instruments I developed an electric bass using a neck-through design based around an excellent Western Australian wood called Red Tingle.  You can read more about it on my options pages. Nowadays I don’t aspire to building solidbody instruments as the major companies - Fender, Gibson, PRS and all the others build very good ones. My customers and I have found, however that you just can’t beat a handmade electric bass with that Red Tingle neck, so I still make them by special request.

This 6 string fretless bass is just completed.  It was made for a great bass player who has one of my 6 string basses, Roy Daniel. Roy tours with the Australian blues/slide guitar legend Dave Hole. It has an ebony fingerboard, Red Tingle neck and rare River Ranksia (B. Littoralis) body wings.  The pickups are by EMG and the bridge is by Wilkinson. There is a piezo film transducer under the bridge, controlled by its own volume control. To see more detail of this beast click on the picture.
