I was led to these strings by a good friend, musician, colleague and harp maker Andy Rigby of Maldon in the Australian state of Victoria.  The “Nylgut” trebles and multifilament cores have the same density as natural gut.  This is the first time this has been achieved. For my classical guitars, ukuleles and similar instruments these strings, particularly the plain trebles, have the sound I have been looking for. Warm and bright. They do not have the dull “plastic “ sound that regular nylon strings can have. They also avoid the harsh sound and touch that the ”KF” type strings exhibit. I love them!

You can see the full range of Aquila strings at their site, plus take advantage of their tension calculators etc.  Currently, I keep the strings listed below.

Classical guitar strings

Alchemia Pure silver wound Nylgut basses with plain Nylgut trebles in two tensions, normal and hard.

Alabastro Silver plated copper wound Nylgut basses with plain Nylgut trebles in two tensions, normal and hard.

Perla  A special nylon formulation exclusive to Aquila. A more conventional string.

Nylgut trebles ( E, B, G strings in hard tension)

Ukulele Strings

Soprano and concert uke sets.  These are fantastic!

Venezuelan Cuatro strings. 4 string set ADF#B
