Blues At bridgetown Stage 100

Each year I build a guitar for the Blues at Bridgetown Festival in Western Australia. I donate it to them for a fundraising raffle which various community projects.

There are many styles of acoustic guitar which have been used for blues playing - archtops, big 12 strings, small parlour-sized guitars, dreadnoughts, even classicals. Since many aspiring blues players nowadays relate to electric guitar heroes, I build a modern acoustic which will appeal electric players. This special Stage 100 model has strong mids and trebles with a quick, pulsing bass response. It has a slim, vintage electric-style neck with a fine ebony fingerboard and a medium 640mm (251/4”) scale length so it responds easily to fingerstyle playing. It has a fine Alaskan spruce top selected for strong, steely fundamental tones and Wandoo back and sides, for a hard edge and ultimate projection. To complete the blues image I use a 1930s checker-style purfling, soundhole ring and back strip. The style is like a Chicago Harmony with real wood grain!
