This is how I configure the A model mandolin normally. It has an Alaskan Spruce top and Maple back and sides. The finish on this mandolin is a thin lacquer, especially on the top. You can see the transparent scratch guard I use on the treble side. You can see some “bearclaw “ figure in the very fine grained top. To see what the maple back looks like click on the picture.
