FAIRBRIDGE 2007 MODEL 3

As this guitar is donated every year to Fairbridge Music Festival, I use it to promote Western Australian woods and to test new ideas. On this guitar I used the rope binding I use in my ukuleles as a purfling, and tried a new feature, the shoulder sound port. It is basically a small , reinforced sound hole on the left shoulder of the guitar.  It gives the player a more accurate idea of what the guitar sounds like out front. It also raises the air resonant frequency slightly and puts more mid frequencies into the sound. It works really well for this model. I am trying it on other guitars.

The picture below shows another view of the sound port. Note the wonderful colour of the Jarrah back and sides.
