MODEL 6, BARITONE BODY

This design is my own shape and has been used in several models - baritone guitar, 12 string, bajo-sexto, large lap steel and the model 6 - a very big jumbo 6 string. The 450 mm (17 5/8") wide lower bout coupled with a shallower waist gives a huge bass response. This guitar strums chords you feel you could dive into! Ideal for low tunings in 6 and 12 string models. It fits in a large archtop case.

This is the model 6 body used for a bajo sexto, the Mexican six-string bass instrument used in the conjunto music of Mexico. With its octave stringing, low E (c.f. double bass!) tuning in fourths all the way up to F on the highest course, this is a handfull. It has great bass response due to the small soundhole and design of the internal bracing. The back and sides are Tasmanian Blackwood.To get a bigger view of the bajo sexto, click on the pictures.

The guitar pictured is a Baritone 12 string. it has a spruce top, Indian Rosewood Back and sides and Ebony Fingerboard and Bridge, The scale length is 680mm
