VINTAGE 00

This is a newer model for me. Modeled on the 1930’3 Gibson 00, it is great for blues and old -timey playing, as is my Model 5. The Vintage 00 has 14 frets clear of the body and a strong response on the plain treble strings showing through its well-balanced, historic sound. Normally I would use a short 630mm scale (243/4”) scale and open geared tuners on this model. The guitar pictured was made for the 2005 Blues At Bridgetown Festival and has a mid length scale and Grover tuners, a format I have used in the Bridgetown guitars for years, along with the West Australian Wandoo back and sides, Spruce top and marbled ebony fingerboard. This guitar has another Western Australian wood, Agonis Juniperina or Warren River Cedar used in the neck shaft. It is a very strong, stable timber and is one of the lightest West Australian woods. It is very rare and difficult to obtain and season, however.

I would normally recommend the lightest wood combinations for this guitar. To see a back view of the curly Wandoo body, click on the picture.

I have been building this model in Tasmanian Blackwood for prefence. You can see some of these by clicking here.
